Enchanted

The chorus bit is a reminder that we need “the faith of a mustard seed” and “ a holy naiveté” to appreciate the mystery around us and to “breathe it in.” There aren’t many words in this song, but the lyrics that are there are gorgeous and we absolutely love singing them.
We love this song, too, because it’s easy to teach. It’s a great one to teach to new guitarists because there are only two chords in it. The feel of it is pretty different from a lot of the other music we sing; it’s a ballad. And while slower, more reflective music often presents musical challenges, this tune is really accessible for any kind of ensemble.
Most of the music we sing at Sanctuary is guitar-driven and led, so we really like relying more on the piano for this tune. It has such a different feel from other songs and we really like to play that up. We take it slow and we let it build ever so slightly in the chorus, but we try not to get carried away with it. We like that it’s a more reflective and prayerful song.
