All Who Are Thirsty

We really like using this song during communion. There aren’t a whole lot of words to learn, which makes it easy to sing moving around, praying, etc. It could also be used during Advent, when the chorus of "Come, Lord Jesus" is emphasized by the spirit of the season. There’s a sense of anticipation in that part of the song that is present in the season of Advent, as we await the birth of our Savior. To help with the anticipation, another thought is to sing this song along with “Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel". The meters make it tricky, but if you can figure out a tidy transition, the two songs work well together.
The chord progressions of "All Who Are Thirsty" are fairly simple and easy to prepare by any sort of ensemble. This is a more introspective song and thus the make-up of the ensemble should reflect that. (Acoustic) guitar, bass, and a really light, simple drum beat could be really effective. A piano or keyboard adds a really nice layer, as well. And since it’s a simpler song, it would be easy to get that person at your church who plays flute or oboe or really anything else involved. The song really lends itself well to all sorts of creativity and could be prepared in a number of different ways.
